New Liberty Distilling is releasing their newest spirit, a dutch malt, single malt whiskey. This new, American single malt has been designed and distilled by Robert Cassell of New Liberty. It is a collaboration of a local Philadelphia distiller with a local PA maltster on the Main Line! Malty and delicious and finally being poured for the public at the PA Spirits Convention!
The whiskey is crafted from a Mid-Atlantic region-grown barley and malted by Deer Creek Malt House in Glen Mills, Pa. This Pennsylvania Dutch malt is produced from well-modified two-row barley, in the traditional “Munich” style, while paying an appropriate homage to PA’s German roots with its namesake. This is a Dark Munich style malt, 10-12L, that produces a very clean, malty wort, with a nutty, toffee sweetness, dark amber color, and enough diastatic power to convert itself quickly and serve a base malt in a variety of German-style beers.
